For many centuries a summer resort for the rich Venetian aristocracy, Murano’s palazzi still show traces of their glorious past. The outstanding glass and stone mosaics inside the Church of Santi Maria e Donato, the breathtaking Giovanni Bellini’s painting in the Church of San Pietro Martire and the nice little and affordable restaurants along its canals alone are undoubtedly worth the trip.
